Good morning.A six-hundred-and-thirty-four-thousand-dollar environmental cleanup is underway at the City of Corning Fire Department to tackle hazardous underground contamination. State officials have labeled the eight-acre site a significant threat to public health due to the presence of semi-volatile organic compounds and heavy metals, including lead and mercury. Fire Chief Brad Davies says the station will remain fully operational during the three-month cleanup.The second time was the charm for the Odessa-Montour Central School Board. Voters have officially approved a revised twenty-three-million-dollar school budget after rejecting the initial plan last month. The school board successfully trimmed nearly two-hundred-and-forty-thousand dollars in spending to drop the property tax hike down to six-point-two percent.And a two-point-eight-million-dollar project to completely replace the aging Champlin Beach Pier on Keuka Lake is set to break ground early next month.
